Fighting the Romans. Task nº2: The Comic: “Boudicca: The brave rebel”

Some mates has commented that they had problems to view this task. I post it again....

* They had to download the script of the podcast of the previous activity here

* We divided the class in four groups of five members each (the groups for this month). Every group had to print one copy of the script in the school´s printer.

*Each group had to work with a different part of the text (scene):

Group one (Represented by Claudia) – Part one (Until it says: “ANTONINUS Yes, that’s fair.”)
Group two (Represented by Duna) – Part two (Until it says: “ADDEDO We used to be a powerful tribe in Britain, like the Iceni. But Boudicca, you should see us now. We’re slaves to these Romans. They steal, they cheat, they kill.”)
Group three (Represented by Pablo) – Part three (Until it says: “SUETONIUS Neither have I, Antoninus, neither have you! Just go and tell the men that Suetonius orders them to attack. If we get rid of these druids, we’ll have the whole of this island under proper control. Under proper control!”)
Group four (Represented by Carmelo) – Part four (Until it says: “NARRATOR Boudicca was a very strong woman, but she knew she was taking on the powerful Roman Empire. And very few people had ever done that and won.”)

*After reading carefully the text every group had to divide it´s part of the script in different underscenes and draw an illustration of every underscene (with image and words).  They had to take into account that watching and reading every underscene must allow the reader to follow the plot of the story.

[I gave them a CLUE: Pay attention to the action verbs. They will help you to divide the scene into underscenes]

*They had to scan all the illustrations with the class printer and create a comic joining the illustrations of the different groups together through Microsoft Powerpoint (installed in the class PC)

* Finally they had to published the comic with Slideshare internet free software through an account created with the class´ email, and create a new post with the link in the class´ blog.

[Here you can see a sample of one part of the comic]

Fighting the Romans. Task nº5: Helping Primus.

While the class and me were working on the previous tasks I realized they were curious about one issue present in the text: the druids and their magic powers.

So I decided to prepare a webquest to allow them to inquiry about these enigmatic characters.

The conductor character for the webquest is Primus, a spanish born roman soldier of the British Legion, who is very afraid of the Druids powers. ¿Could we help him to find an amulet for such magic?

Here is the link to the webquest. I hope you enjoy it….
